Graceland University educates students for advanced study, for productive careers and for rich lives, and student success has been at the core of the university’s mission and values from the beginning. Faculty, administration, staff and even alumni are always seeking ways to help enrich students’ experience and make resources available to support their success both as students and in life after graduation.
This fall, many of the resources Graceland already provides will be consolidated into a student success center in the F.M. Smith Library in order to provide a one-stop location for a variety of services. The center will be a collaborative effort of several departments and will include tutoring, the Writing Center, peer mentors, disability services, career services and more. Consolidating these services into one location will provide Lamoni-campus students the convenience of a centralized location and will include “hang out” space to study or just be with friends.
“Many universities already provide a centralized success center for students to easily access services on campus,” explained Nicole Briell, Director of Retention. “Combining the excellent service Graceland departments are already providing our students into a single location will streamline students’ experience when seeking out these resources and will even create a hub for collaboration – both for our students and our staff who support them.”
Graceland’s mission is to create learning communities where students develop their potential for meaningful and productive lives. With a single location on campus providing students the high-quality academic and personal support services they need to be successful in their educational experience, the university continues to enhance the way its mission is carried out by prioritizing student success.
