Graceland University's Jerry Hampton Honored for Lifetime of Service

Jerry Hampton `52 of Lamoni, Iowa, was recently honored for lifelong service to his community and fellow veterans. Hampton attended Graceland College earning an Associate of Arts degree in 1952. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Jewell College in 1954, Hampton joined the army and served for two years as a company clerk. He then continued his academic journey to Northwest Missouri State University, obtaining a Master of Science degree in 1959.

Hampton came full circle when he joined the faculty of then Graceland College in July 1960. He devoted his life to Graceland and its students for over 50 years. During his Graceland tenure, Hampton served as faculty, wrestling coach, athletic director and part-time tennis coach. He officially retired on June 1, 2011.

Beyond his commitment to Graceland, Hampton volunteered many hours of his time to service veterans of the United States military and was recently honored for his service and presented with a Quilt of Valor.
