Accomplishment: Photographer working toward medical school
Degree: BA Psychology
Ashley is a former HIV/maternal health case manager, now a traveling photographer who is working toward medical school to become an infectious disease specialist. Her photography work has been published internationally, including an article she wrote and images she took for the March 2015 issue and the June cover of Lemonade & Lenses magazine, as well as on popular wedding blogs like The Luxe Pearl, Glamour & Grace, Joy Wed and Mozi Magazine. The past year has been one of growth and travel for her business, including photographing weddings, engagements and editorial shoots all over the U.S., and mentoring other photographers one on one in Boston, Sacramento and NYC. So far this year she is working toward medical school and taking on fewer photography responsibilities. However, two of her photographs were recently chosen for an advertising campaign with Mastin Labs, a prominent film emulation preset for hybrid photographers (those who shoot both film and digital, as she does), which was exciting for her. She also writes a biweekly blog post about photography and business for Light Inspired, a blog for women artists/entrepreneurs. She and her husband, Thom, just relocated from Fort Worth, Texas, to Sacramento, California, where he works as a physician for Kaiser Permanente. Their son Michael lives in Texas and is studying computer science, and their son, Daniel attends Graceland as a psychology major with a theatre minor.
