Graceland University is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director TRIO Student Support Services.

This role supports the mission of the university by developing and implementing needed service to Graceland students who are eligible for program services, according to the legislation and regulations that govern the Department of Education TRIO grant program. The director must envision the needed retention strategies and interventions for TRIO students. The successful applicant will have experience in a TRIO program and demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and retention.

  • Develop, manage and evaluate the Student Support Services program to promote retention, academic good standing and graduation of program participants.
  • Direct, plan, implement goals, and activities designed to promote student success.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, facilitate weekly meetings, and evaluate staff
  • Administer, develop, implement, and revise federal grant funds in accordance with federal guidelines and program goals.
  • Develop and implement formative and summative program assessments as described in the grant proposal.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate record keeping and accounting systems in accordance with Graceland and U.S. Department of Education guidelines.
  • Complete monthly and annual performance report for state and federal requirements and facilitate grant proposal for continued funding.
  • Maintain student roster, caseload, files, and documentation for program participants.
  • Provide academic advising, tutoring, and mentoring.
  • Plan and implement student success workshops and activities.
  • Develop and maintain liaisons with Graceland administration, faculty/ staff and Department of Education personnel.
  • Communicate program goals, objectives, and needs of target students to the Graceland community.
  • Develop and maintain websites to share information about the services provided.
  • Participate in university-wide student success efforts including managing the flow of the Flag Form early alert system.

Applicants should have experience with TRIO grant programs, student success initiatives, and academic advising. Experience working with first generation, low-income, or under-represented groups is essential. Five years’ experience in counseling, advising, or support services and a Master’s degree in student development, higher education, counseling, educational administration, or a related field are required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Preferred qualifications are experience working with budgets, employee supervision, and federal grant management.
