Job Description:

Graceland University’s Lamoni campus is seeking an Area Coordinator, an essential team member in the Division of Student Life. The Lamoni campus is home to a community rich in cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity. Located in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting in “the middle of everywhere,” the average student’s hometown distance is over 400 miles away.

The Area Coordinator (AC) is a full-time, live-in, professional staff member responsible for the daily operations of up to two residential facilities, averaging 300 residents in each hall. The AC directly supervises live-in student staff and is charged with cultivating an environment which promotes engagement, learning, respect for diversity, and student retention.

The Area Coordinator is first and foremost a residential mentor, responsible for creating and sustaining a community of learners who are challenged to grow in all aspects of their Graceland Experience. Lastly, the AC role is a conduct educator for student behavior and plays an integral role in developing and implementing our residential curriculum.

Area Coordinators must reside in an on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. A meal plan is also provided to allow the AC to be visible in their community, eat meals in dining services locations, attend meetings and events regularly, and be able to respond to emergencies within the residential community. On-call responsibilities are shared for 650-800 residents. This is a 10-month position. Area Coordinators are provided 12-month housing if returning the following year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, human services or related field preferred. Residence hall and supervisory experience preferred.

Application Procedure:

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Send cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references to the Human Resources Department using the web form below, mailed to Graceland University, 1 University Place, Lamoni, IA 50140; or email to personnel@graceland.edu; fax 641-784-5033; Call 641-784-5447.
