Graceland University’s Lamoni campus is seeking an Residence Life Area Coordinator for International Relations for Fall 2024, an essential team member in the Division of Student Life. The Lamoni campus is home to a community rich in cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity. Located in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting in “the middle of everywhere,” the average student’s hometown distance is over 400 miles away.

The Area Coordinator (AC) is a full-time, live-in, professional staff member responsible for the daily operations of up to two residential facilities, averaging 300 residents in each hall. The AC directly supervises live-in student staff and is charged with cultivating an environment which promotes engagement, learning, respect for diversity, and student retention.

The Area Coordinator for International Relations is first and foremost a residential mentor, responsible for creating and sustaining a community of learners who are challenged to grow in all aspects of their Graceland Experience. Another pivotal responsibility for this particular AC position is assisting international students integrate into the greater campus and local community. Graceland’s international student population is increasing and is anticipated to continue to grow over the next 1-3 years. Lastly, the AC role is a conduct educator for student behavior and plays an integral role in developing and implementing our residential
curriculum.

Area Coordinators must reside in an on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. A meal plan is also provided to allow the AC to be visible in their community, eat meals in dining services locations, attend meetings and events regularly, and be able to respond to emergencies within the residential community. On-call responsibilities are shared for 650-800 residents. This is a 10-month position. Area Coordinators are provided 12-month housing if returning the following year.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, international studies/affairs/relations, human services or related field preferred. Bilingual highly preferred. Residence hall and supervisory
experience preferred.
