Graceland University is searching for a Des Moines area-based Admissions Counselor for the Lamoni, Iowa campus. This position would primarily live and work out of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Position Summary
As a member of the admissions team, you will have an important role in the development and execution of the strategic enrollment plan for the 35+ programs of study offered through Graceland’s Lamoni campus. Ideal candidates are well connected within the regional community of Kansas City; and possess a resourceful, innovative, and collaborative approach to identifying and enrolling an annual class of 350 students.
Admissions Counselors participate in a broad range of student recruitment activities and community outreach. This includes attending and networking at various local and national conferences, fairs, and recruitment events. They are also required to perform collateral assignments, and committee work. This position does require traveling alone or with other team members to events. Evening and weekend work are required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, experience in higher education with an appreciation for the liberal arts, college admissions, public relations, sales, or customer service desired. Must be self-motivated, results oriented, energetic, able to relate effectively to other people, able to manage multiple tasks, and have effective and persuasive public speaking and writing skills. Successful candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to learn and adapt to the use of new technologies.
Admissions Counselors must have strong ethics, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with diverse groups of potential students looking to advance their lives through education. Due to the nontraditional schedule and remote format of this position the ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work independently from different locations is required.
Periodic travel to the Lamoni campus to support the admissions team and guest events is required. Travel arrangements will be designed in collaboration with the Director of Lamoni Recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Business, or other related studies; experience within higher education; and the ability to speak Spanish.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the design and implementation of recruitment activities in an assigned geographic territory using extensive telephone communication, electronic mail, social media, travel, hosting of campus visits, and coordination with alumni and campus colleagues. Evening and weekend work required.
