Dr. Alexia N. Lairson, PT, DPT, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Graceland University Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Lairson earned a PhD in Health Sciences from Youngstown State University, a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Walsh University, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University. She is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a clinical specialist in geriatric physical therapy. Her clinical background includes skilled nursing rehabilitation, department management, and clinical education with experience as a Director of Clinical Education, an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) credentialed clinical instructor and site coordinator of clinical education (SCCE). She is a member of the APTA Academies of Education, Geriatrics, and Innovation and Leadership, ACAPT, and Ohio Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Lairson is deeply committed to DPT education, recognizing the significant investment students dedicate to their education and the importance of preparing future physical therapists for practice. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes patient-centered care, reflection, self-assessment, and evidence-based decision-making. She seeks to foster an environment where students feel both challenged and supported, growing into competent, compassionate, and reflective practitioners. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Dr. Lairson enjoys reading, exploring new places, and spending time with family.
