Graceland University Assistant Professor of English Tim Robbins, PhD

Graceland University Assistant Professor of English Tim Robbins, PhD, wrote the chapter, “The Poetics of a New Science: ‘Song of Myself’ as Sociology,” which has been published in Cambridge University Press’ “The New Walt Whitman Studies.” The collection, edited by Matthew Cohen, is the newest of Cambridge’s Twenty-First-Century Critical Revisions, a series aiming to assemble and establish new critical approaches to major authors. Robbins’ essay examines the recirculation and uses of Whitman’s “Song of Myself” across the earliest periodicals in the emergent social sciences.

If interested, Robbins has made the pre-print version of the essay available on his website.
