Each year the Gleazer School of Education at Graceland University gives out GSOE Difference Maker-Scholar-Leader Award to support their mission to develop educational leaders. Difference Maker Cody Sapp ‘21 is attributed in exemplifying the conceptual framework of this department.
Sapp was Graceland Student Education Association President for the education program in Independence, Missouri. Under his tenure as the junior president, and later as senior president, the group did several service projects including serving McDonald House and collecting children’s book donations.
Sapp graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education. He also served as general manager at Hy-Vee Market in Raytown, Missouri and is a team leader for K-5 Sunday school at Graceway church.
Sapp’s Graceland professors speak of him working well with his peers, faculty and staff. He would often stay late after evening classes to walk his classmates to their car, he’s met with new cohort members to answer questions and give advice and spring and summer 2021 he’s been attending monthly Zoom meetings to help recruit new education majors.
