Graceland University Professor of Art Julia Franklin, MFA Graceland University Professor of Art Julia Franklin, MFA, had a work, “Lifeline,” selected to be included in the 2019 DuMA Biennial at the Dubuque Museum of Art in Dubuque, Iowa. Sarah Humphreville, senior curatorial assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art, served as the juror. The exhibition opened May 18 and runs through Sept. 8. Awards will be announced June 7, and the juror will present a gallery talk about the exhibition June 8.

Graceland University Assistant Professor of Art Karen Gergely, MFA

Graceland University Assistant Professor of Art Karen Gergely, MFA, was invited to present at the 17th biennial conference of FATE (Foundations in Art: Theory and Education), Foundations in Flux, hosted by Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, April 4-6. Gergely’s presentation, “Cultivating Social Engagement at a Small, Rural Liberal Arts University,” was part of a larger theme of social justice, peace and completive objectives. She also curated, chaired and moderated a panel on “Art and Activism.”
