David Devonis Graceland University Professor of phycology

David Devonis, Professor of Psychology at Graceland University, has had a paper accepted as part of a combined session with Hank Stam (University Calgary) and John Greenwood (City University of New York) at the 2016 convention of the American Psychological Association in Denver in August. The session is titled “History is Relevant: Teaching that Links Psychology’s Past to its Present.” Devonis’ paper, “The Passion of Paul Meehl: A Historical Framing Question,” details an event in the career of the polymath psychologist, clinician and legal scholar Paul Meehl of the University of Minnesota, who, with a colleague, became part of the combined psychiatric/psychological defense team in a high-profile murder trial. It examines the interrelation of histories of criminal law and psychoanalysis within psychology.
