As the Campus Minister, Mike serves as the Director of Spiritual and Religious Life. This includes working with student chaplains, some who serve as house chaplains, and others who serve more broadly as campus chaplains. He also coordinates InSpire, teaching RELG 1700/3700 Missional Ministry and Leadership Practicum each semester, to help prepare students for Christ-centered ministry. He believes the church and culture are witnessing shifts that will require graduates to apply the ethics of Christ’s peace to change our world.
As an adjunct professor and an academic advisor, he teaches from time-to-time and currently helps first-year students who are deciding their major.
In student leadership development, he serves as the advisor the Council of House Chaplains as part of Graceland Student Government, as supervisor to the Campus Chaplains (student employees), and as adviser in Graceland Student Media, specifically for the Acacia yearbook.
I am a minister in Community of Christ and seek to uphold and live out the church’s identity, mission, message and beliefs within the context of Graceland’s values of Learning, Wholeness and Community. I discovered Community of Christ while I was a college student and hope to keep Graceland students engaged with their spiritual/religious life in meaningful ways.
