Graceland offers online Master of Science in Nursing programs (MSN degree) with specialty tracks in Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

If you already have your graduate degree, you can also earn a post-graduate certificate in each of these programs.

MSN Degree Course Delivery and Completion Time

Master of Science in Nursing courses are offered online via the Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) within a 16-week trimester. The School of Nursing offers the following recommendations for completion plan schedule options. Completion times are approximate and may vary depending on your individualized program of study schedule of course offerings. Master of Science in Nursing requirements include both a full-time and part-time option.

  • Full-Time

    This option is ideal if have flexible part-time or full-time employment with minimal to moderate personal and family obligations.

    • 6-8 s.h. or two courses per trimester
    • MSN-AGACNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across eight trimesters.
    • MSN-FNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across eight trimesters.
    • MSN-PMHNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across eight trimesters.
  • Part-Time

    This option is ideal if you have a demanding part-time or full-time employment with moderate to high personal and family obligations.

    • 3-4 s.h. or one course per trimester
    • MSN-AGACNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across 12 trimesters.
    • MSN-FNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across 12 trimesters.
    • MSN-PMHNP: 45 s.h. total, completed across 12 trimesters.

Admissions Requirements

  1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC, ACEN or CCNE accredited program. If. you have foreign transcripts, an evaluation* is required with GPA equivalency and TOEFL score.
  2. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the U.S. and its territories.
  3. Satisfactory criminal background check after acceptance.
  • Complete the Online Application Form

    You should submit your application and documentation as early as possible. Spots in the program are given on a first-come, first-served basis to applicants who meet or exceed the minimum qualifications.

    Acceptance decisions will be communicated via your Application Portal.

  • Application Fee

    There is no application fee.

  • Official Transcripts

    Electronic transcripts are preferred and are accepted from Docufide, Script-Safe, Parchment, Student Clearinghouse and/or the issuing institution. These transcripts should be sent to admissions@graceland.edu or mail paper transcripts to Graceland University, Enrollment Operations, 1 University Place, Lamoni, IA 50140. If sending by mail, official transcripts must be in a sealed envelope sent from the institution or issuing service. See below for the required transcripts:

    • RN – BSN – MSN applicants: We require ALL transcripts from each school attended, which means if you attended five different schools, we will need five transcripts. If you do not hold a bachelor’s degree, your high school transcript is also required.
    • MSN (AGAC, FNP and MHNP) applicants: We require your BSN transcript only. If you are petitioning for master’s level transfer credit, we also require a transcript showing that coursework (ex. you earned your BSN from Blue University, but you took other coursework at Gold University, we would require both transcripts).
  • Verification of an Active U.S. Nursing License

    A license verification report can be found on the Nursys® website under the QuickConfirm License Verification tab. You may also visit your state board’s official website to access license verification information. In most cases, this should not cost anything. When submitting your verification, the expiration date must be visible on the report.

  • Transfer Credit Petition (optional)

    Approval of transfer credit is made on a course by course basis. Courses submitted for consideration must sufficiently match expected learning outcomes required by Graceland University’s School of Nursing. A detailed syllabus (course descriptions are not acceptable) from each course must be included in your petition.

    Candidates may transfer up to three graduate nursing courses for a maximum of 12 semester hours (s.h.) of graduate course work. Coursework must be completed at a nationally accredited program with a grade of “B” or above.

    Special conditions and exceptions to course completion time limits:

    • Pharmacotherapeutics, Advanced Health Assessment, and Advanced Pathophysiology courses must be completed within five years prior to admission to be considered for transfer credit.
    • Course completion time limits do not apply to board certified APN demonstrating continuous current practice.

If you are seeking financial aid, you must complete a FAFSA form. To complete this, visit the FAFSA website at studentaid.gov. To send your FAFSA information to Graceland University, use our school code: 001866. This should be done at your earliest convenience.

Graduation Requirements
  1. Completed sufficient credit to meet the total required graduate semester hours within 6 years of enrollment. Students may petition one time for a 1 year extension.
  2. Earned a final course grade of B or better in every course.
  3. Satisfactorily completed the required evidence-based practice synthesis project.
  4. Fulfilled all financial obligations to Graceland University.
  5. Filed an application for graduation with the Office of the Registrar at least six months prior to the anticipated graduation date.
