Melanie Mason Fun Facts

Dr. Mason joined the Graceland University team in 2020.  Here are some “fun facts” about Dr. Mason.

Education:

• Attended Pocahontas Area High School (IA) and graduated in 1992
• Graduated from Northwestern College (IA) in 1997 with a major in Exercises Science and a minor in Health
• Earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 1998
• Earned her Doctor of Athletic Training degree from Temple University in 2020

Favorite body part to evaluate? The Knee

Most “painful” classroom moment? In my first job teaching at a college, I was teaching a freshman-level class called Concepts of Physical Fitness.On the first test I gave, 75% of the students failed.  I realized the issue was me, not the students!

Most adventurous thing she’s done? Skydiving

Favorite vacation spot? Sarasota, Florida

Favorite tv/streaming show? Schitz Creek, Yellowstone, Scandal, Survivor

Pets: Reggie and Rylee (golden doodles), Terry (cat)

Family: She is married to Kim.Two kids, Kelsey (29) and Brady (26). Brady is married to Lynsey, and they have a son Carter (2) and a baby girl on the way in February of 2023.
