The Master of Business Administration (MBA) equips graduate students with cutting-edge knowledge, skills, and perspectives to enable them to thrive in today’s competitive global economy. As the business landscape evolves rapidly, the demand for highly skilled and adaptable business professionals is at an all-time high.  The MBA program focuses on cultivating strong leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking skills. It comprehensively includes core business disciplines, including economics, finance, marketing, operations, human resources, and entrepreneurship.  It emphasizes emerging trends such as sustainable business practices, digital transformation, and global business ethics.

Master of Business Administration Degree Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. The Bachelor’s degree can be in any field of study.
  • Submit official transcripts from all undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate institutions attended.
  • Have 2-5 years professional work experience or students can be directly admitted from undergraduate programs if they meet acceptance criteria.
  • Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are preferred but not required and could supplement an application with no work experience or GPA below 3.0.
  • English Proficiency is required for international applicants from non-English speaking countries, proof of English proficiency through Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) may be required.
  • Provide 1-3 letters of recommendation from professional contacts, such as supervisors or colleagues, who can speak to the applicant’s qualifications, work ethic, and leadership potential.
  • Write a statement of purpose or essay exploring their motivations for pursuing an MBA, career goals, and how this specific MBA program aligns with their objectives.
  • Submit a detailed resume or curriculum vitae outlining their educational background, work experience, skills, and other relevant qualifications.
  • Optional Components – Additional materials, such as a portfolio (for candidates with creative backgrounds), to showcase their skills and experiences are welcome.

Master of Business Administration Degree Transfer Requirements

  1. Transfer of 9 credit hours for equivalent coursework.
  2. A strong academic record is crucial. MBA program requires a minimum GPA (3.0) for consideration, and applicants should demonstrate success in relevant coursework.
  3. Having relevant professional experience may strengthen your transfer application, especially if it aligns with the goals of the program.
  4. A statement explaining your reasons for transferring, your goals, and how the program aligns with your aspirations may be required.
  5. If you are an international student, consider the visa implications of transferring between programs. Ensure that you comply with immigration regulations.

Master of Business Administration Degree 4+1 Program Requirements

Program Overview and Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligibility. Students must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program at Graceland University in their senior year or have completed at least 90 undergraduate credit hours.
  • GPA Requirement. Students applying to the 4+1 MBA program must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. However, some flexibility could be allowed based on GRE, GMAT scores, or faculty recommendations.

Application Process

  • Application Form Submission. Interested students must submit a formal application to the 4+1 MBA program. The application should include:
    • Academic transcripts
    • A resume highlighting relevant coursework, internships, and extracurricular activities.
    • A personal statement outlining career goals and reasons for pursuing the MBA in an accelerated format.
  • Recommendation Letters. Students should obtain two or a maximum of three letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with their academic performance and potential for graduate study.

Evaluation and Screening

  • Review by Admissions Committee. Applications will be reviewed by a dedicated admissions committee comprising faculty from both undergraduate and graduate programs. The committee will assess the student’s academic readiness, potential for graduate studies, and alignment with the program’s objectives.

Academic Planning and Curriculum Integration

  • Dual-Listed Course Approval. Students approved for the program will receive an academic plan that includes dual-listed courses, aligning undergraduate course credits with advanced MBA content. Each dual-listed course will be credited towards both the undergraduate and MBA program requirements.
  • Curriculum Advisor Assignment. Each student will work with an academic advisor to help them navigate the integrated curriculum and ensure they meet undergraduate and MBA course requirements.

Course Load and Performance Monitoring

  • Course Load Limitations. Students must be counseled on time management to successfully manage the combined responsibilities of undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Performance Standards. Students must maintain a minimum GPA (e.g., 3.0) in all dual-listed courses. Failing to meet the GPA requirement will lead to a probation period and, if not improved, potential removal from the program.

Degree Completion Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree Completion. Students must fulfill all undergraduate requirements within the designated timeframe of the 4-year undergraduate program.
  • Graduate Credits Completion. After successfully earning the undergraduate degree, students will automatically transition into the MBA program to complete the remaining MBA courses.
  • Timeframe for MBA Completion. A clear timeframe (typically 1 additional year) will be set for completing the MBA after the undergraduate degree.

Program Exit and Contingency Plan

  • Opt-Out Option. Students who find the accelerated program too challenging can opt-out and continue in the traditional undergraduate program without losing credits. In such cases, they may reapply for the regular MBA program upon completing their undergraduate degree.

Approval and Notification

  • Formal Notification. Upon final approval, students will receive an official letter of acceptance into the 4+1 MBA program, outlining the conditions of their acceptance and expectations moving forward.
  • Advising Sessions. Approved students will participate in mandatory advising sessions to prepare them for the transition and integration of dual-listed courses.

Master of Business Administration Degree Graduation Requirements

To qualify for graduation, candidates for a graduate degree must:

  1. Complete 36 semester hours of required courses which includes the Capstone Project
  2. Maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout the program and earn a final GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Fulfill all financial obligations with the university.
  4. File an application for graduation with the Office of the Registrar at least six months prior to the anticipated graduation date.

Optional:

  1. Participate in internships or gain practical work experience as part of the graduation requirements.
  2. Participate in professional development activities such as workshops, seminars, networking events, or conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
