Amy Sellars brings 27 years of experience in education to her role preparing future teachers at Graceland University. She earned a BA in Elementary Education from Graceland University with concentrations in Reading and Early Childhood Education, an MA in Education and Innovation from Webster University with a concentration in Language Arts/Literacy, and an MSEd in Professional School Counseling from Buena Vista University.
Her professional experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, Parent Educator with the Parents as Teachers program, and K–12 school counselor. As someone who struggled with reading as a child, Amy is especially passionate about helping future educators understand and support students who struggle. Her philosophy is simple: learn, reflect, and grow, recognizing that some of our greatest learning comes from trying new things and making mistakes.
Outside the classroom, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, dogs, and grandpuppies, taking walks, reading mysteries, and shopping for shoes because lifelong learning is important, but so is finding a great pair of shoes!
