Assistant Professor of Sport Management

Yong teaches management and marketing courses focusing on Sport Management at Graceland University. He likes the subject because of his passion for basketball and his industry background. He is eager to share his knowledge and experience with students and help them succeed in their careers.

Yong studies sport consumer behavior as it pertains to sport identity and associated social identities in decision-making processes, spectatorship, endorsement, sponsorship, and psychological issues on the individual and collective level. His works have been published in top-tier journals such as European Sport Management Quarterly and Applied Geography.

Before his academic career, Yong was a sports reporter for more than six years, during which he covered some of the most exciting sporting events in the world, such as the NBA (five seasons), Olympics (two), and FIFA and FIBA World Cup. In addition, Yong worked shortly in the Public Relations industry.
