Katie Harmon-McLaughlin is a Spiritual Director and Spiritual Formation Specialist for Community of Christ. She is faculty for Community of Christ Seminary.
Harmon-McLaughlin received her Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a minor in Church Leadership from Graceland University in 2009 and her Master of Arts in Religion from Community of Christ Seminary in 2011. In 2016, she received a post-graduate certificate in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Leadership from Pnuema Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She is also a trained Labyrinth Facilitator through Veriditas (Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, CA). Harmon-McLaughlin is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry, with a focus in Spiritual Leadership, through San Francisco Theological Seminary at University of Redlands.
Harmon-McLaughlin is an ordained priesthood member in Community of Christ and holds the office of High Priest. Previously, she served as a full-time pastor in Orange, CA and as a graduate intern with Graceland University Campus Ministries. She was also as a Spiritual Director for Bread of Life, an interfaith spirituality center in Sacramento, CA. In her current role, she is the team lead for the Community of Christ Spiritual Formation Team, Editor of Daily Bread, and Director of the Spiritual Formation and Companioning Program. She has had numerous publications for Community of Christ through Daily Bread and the Herald and has written several resources and guides related to spiritual formation and discernment.
Harmon-McLaughlin is especially interested in the ways spirituality intersects with shifts in global religious trends, movements of peace and justice, and leadership in communities and systems. Other interests include feminist/intersectional and ecological theologies and spiritualities. Harmon-McLaughlin facilitates spiritual retreats, communal discernment processes, and teaches spiritual formation, spiritual companioning, and spiritual practice with communities throughout the world.
