This 8-10 week internship program, completed from June to August 2026, serves as a Manager-In-Training program, allowing the participants to focus on campground operations, kitchen management, and administration. Interns will train first-hand by working alongside our experienced managers, staff, and long-term volunteers.
BACKGROUND
Samish Island Campground & Retreat Center is situated on Samish Island in the beautiful and scenic San Juan Islands of the Puget Sound near the town of Bow, Washington. The campground was established in 1959 and is part of the traditional grounds of the Samish Indian Nation. It is owned and operated by Community of Christ for use by people seeking sacred experiences in the outdoors. The 87 acres include open space, forested areas, and beaches, offering a unique and serene environment for peace, fellowship, and learning.

With nearly 8400 estimated camper nights, over 25,000 meals will be served over a time span of forty weeks. Many of those meals will need to be customized for dietary preferences and to accommodate individual medical requirements.

We host Community of Christ youth and family camps and retreats in partnership with many culturally diverse communities. We continue to add new camper groups from all walks of life.
