Wilai Rojjanasrirat, PhD, RN, IBCLC
Professor of Nursing, Director of Research and Scholarship
Wilai Rojjanasrirat, PhD, RN, IBCLC, is a professor and director of Research and Scholarship at Graceland University’s School of Nursing in Independence, Missouri. A nurse since 1982, her background is in midwifery and maternal and child health nursing.
Dr. Rojjanasrirat is an international board certified lactation consultant. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing and Midwifery from Thailand and Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction and Doctorate and Post-Doctorate in Nursing Science from the University of Kansas. She teaches graduate level, online nursing research and evidence-based practice, and biostatistics courses. Her passion in research focuses on promoting and supporting breastfeeding mothers, health promotion in vulnerable populations, psychometric development and testing, and educational outcome evaluation.
Funded by the International Lactation Consultant Association, Dr. Rojjanasrirat completed a pilot study testing the feasibility of using telehealth in assessing and providing lactation support in women’s homes. Evaluation of the effects of evidence-based practice courses on graduate nursing students’ attitudes, knowledge and skills toward EBP, and evaluation of the Business Case for Breastfeeding Program’s impact among employed breastfeeding mothers in Kansas are among some of the research projects.
Dr. Rojjanasrirat was selected to serve as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar Specialist from 2012-17, along with the opportunity to serve as a Fulbright Scholar at Naresuan University in Thailand for six weeks in 2012. She was also invited as a summer visiting professor at Naresuan and Khon Kaen Universities in Thailand from 2013-17.
Dr. Rojjanasrirat presented her research abstract titled "Breastfeeding Rates, Self-Efficacy, and Satisfaction in Low-Income Mothers of Late Preterm Infants" in 2019. She also conducted a Qualitative Research Methods Workshop at the International Lactation Consultant Association Conference and Annual Meeting on July 24-27, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.
In terms of professional services, Dr. Rojjanasrirat currently serves as president of the Pi Eta Chapter of the Nursing Honor Society Sigma Theta Tau International, president of the Greater Kansas City Lactation Consultant Association and board member of Maternal Child Health Coalition Board of Directors of Kansas City, Kansas.
Dr. Rojjanasrirat and her husband, Terry Teasley, live in Olathe, Kansas. When not teaching, she enjoys traveling, reading, singing karaoke and cooking Thai food.
