Melinda Leoce, MM, teaches percussion and directs the Yellowjacket Marching Band at Graceland University. Before joining the faculty, she studied Music Education and Percussion at the University of Central Florida and Percussion Performance at Florida State University and Indiana University.
Professor Leoce’s research and performance interests include contemporary percussion chamber ensemble, marching percussion, Brazilian music, steel pan, and pop music culture. As a music educator, she believes in respecting and cultivating her students' past and present musical endeavors while also exposing them to new genres, instruments, and experiences that illuminate future paths of study. Professor Leoce believes that the music classroom should be vibrant, collaborative, and diverse.
In addition to teaching and performing, Professor Leoce loves to ski, take long walks with her dog, attend live music acts, knit, cook, host game nights and make trips to visit her family.
