Graceland University Professor of Art Julia Franklin

Graceland University Professor of Art Julia Franklin’s newest and most personal exhibition, “Picking Up the Pieces,” is now on view in the Farnham Galleries on the Simpson College campus in Indianola, Iowa. The solo exhibition runs from Aug. 24 to Sept. 21 and closes that evening with a reception and artist talk from 5-6 p.m.

The show focuses on her father, who committed suicide when she was 16, and it visually illustrates her remembrances and interpretations of that defining moment. Within the last year, new discoveries and secrets have been shared, and the work explores these ideas as well as themes of absence and identity. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by appointment.
