Ackerley Scholars Scholarship Requirements

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • Have a minimum high school GPA 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Enroll full-time and declare CSIT major
  • Willing to participate in all CSIT activities

To maintain the scholarship, you must:

Academic Requirements

  1. Major in Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), any concentration. You can major in multiple areas too.
  2. Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA in your major and 3.3 GPA overall
  3. Remain a full-time student making reasonable progress on your degree, based on a 4-year plan.
  4. Maintain good habits for academic success (e.g., attendance, participation, work ethic, attitude). Your name must not show up on midterm reports of students who are “at risk” due to poor work or attendance.

Participatory Expectations

  1. Be active in our student chapter of ACM, Association of Computing Machinery, the international society for computing professionals, scientists, and educators. Full attendance and active support are expected – attend a minimum of 80% of all meetings.
  2. Participate in the fall and/or spring computing conferences that we attend as a group (where you can attend workshops, lectures, competitions, or present a paper) – minimum of 1 per year.
  3. Be involved in homecoming or other events in which we greet visitors and give demonstrations that promote our CSIT and Ackerley program.
  4. Influence the direction of the Ackerley Program by offering ideas and assistance for special events, guest speakers, workshops, and projects. To lead and assist without being asked.
  5. Attend Resch Speaker lecturers.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Be included in publicity that promotes our program and students (e.g., photos, news, web sites).
  2. Send letters of appreciation to the donors who made your scholarship possible.
  3. Attend all Ackerley meetings.
