The Commons and the Swarm are great but sometimes it's nice to get off campus and eat out. New students still don't know what kinds of things there are around town. Lamoni has some exquisite restaurants of many different varieties. People come from many miles away just to eat at some wonderful locally own restaurants in Lamoni.
The Pizza Shack
There are many different choices for pizza in Lamoni, but the locally-owned Pizza Shack is a must try for anyone coming here. "The Shack," as the locals refer to it, has been a part of Lamoni and Graceland's culture and history for many years. For decades Graceland students have left their mark here. Literally, there are names of many alumni carved into the walls. When alumni come back for homecoming, they always want to go to the Pizza Shack because it brings back memories for them. The dough and the sauce are both homemade, resulting in a delicious and fresh pizza pie. They have many different kinds of pizzas, but my personal favorite is the Demon (named for the Lamoni High School mascot). I also like the taco pizza. For those who do not like pizza, they also have some other options, such as their amazing Italian sub or their famous cheesy "Shack Stix." Pizza Shack is open 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and on Friday and Saturday is open 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Not only do they have tacos, burritos and tostadas, but they also have some great vegetarian options and desserts. It's a great authentic Mexican restaurant that offers a wide variety of options. La Cocina Real is open 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and is open on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.

The Sale Barn Café
Every Thursday there is a cattle auction here, but what many out of towners don't know is that they also have a café here with some great grub. Make sure you come early because they are only open for breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday.
The Quilt Country buffet here is another must try for anybody new to Lamoni. They have a wide variety of delicious food. They also have a menu with many other things not available at the buffet. This is the best place for good ol' country style food in Lamoni.

For anyone who has never been to Subway, they have tasty sandwiches made any way you want it. You can customize your sandwich with a plethora of combinations. Their hours are 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. on weekdays and they close at midnight on weekends.
