Graceland University seeks a progressive leader for Graceland University Libraries (one in Lamoni, IA, and one in Independence, MO). The position will be based in Lamoni. The Director of University Libraries is responsible for development and implementation of library services, operations of the libraries, and supervising staff.

The successful applicant will be able to: meet the demands of academic patrons in a global information environment; select monographs and electronic resources based on patron needs and collection development policies; develop policies and procedures with a customer service emphasis; instruct patrons, groups, and classrooms in library use and tools; provide services to remote/online graduate students; help develop curriculum and provide instruction and assessment for information literacy skills across the campus; and research the costs and merit of adding new electronic products and services to the library to keep it current with modern university standards and trends. We are seeking someone who is committed to a liberal arts education and who will engage and support faculty and students in teaching, learning, and research. The successful candidate will also have the desire and ability to support undergraduate and graduate professional programs.

Required qualifications:

Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program, supervisory experience, experience with reference services, strong communication and consensus building skills, and budget preparation. Desired qualifications: university library experience, additional master’s degree, post-secondary teaching experience, experience with rare book collections, knowledge of electronic resources management.
