Graceland University is seeking an experienced, professional Director of Student Success & Retention on the Lamoni, IA campus.  This position works across departments to maximize student success and retention university wide. In this role, the Director of Student Success & Retention works closely with administrators, faculty, and staff to weave together a retention plan that is integrated and touches upon multiple aspects of the student experience.

The Director of Student Success & Retention must have a familiarity with the literature on student success/retention, especially as it pertains to diverse student populations.  In addition, the Director of Student Success & Retention must have experience in retention planning and implementation in a higher education setting.  The Director must have highly developed communication skills, be an effective educator, and must possess organizational savvy—understanding how to work collaboratively across departments.

The Director of Student Success & Retention will train, facilitate, and assist academic advisors, deans, faculty, coaches, and student life personnel relative to their role in the retention strategy and in understanding how curricular and co-curricular programs can work together to support a holistic student educational experience.

The Director of Student Success & Retention will coordinate the gathering and analysis of pertinent data/metrics which will be used to assess, plan, implement and evaluate student success and retention programming. They will work collaboratively across the institution to create systems of support to develop and sustain a culture of student success.

As a member of the enrollment team, the Director of Student Success & Retention will report to the Vice President for Enrollment and Strategic Growth, but will also be an ex-officio member of the Student Life team.  They will create, oversee, and coordinate the comprehensive retention plan of the university.

Master’s degree required with at least 5 years in higher education in roles highly relevant to student success/retention.
