The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Graceland University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, with potential to start January 1, 2023 on the Lamoni, Iowa, campus. An MFA with an emphasis in Graphic Design or equivalent is required.
The successful applicant will be:
- a forward-thinking designer who is familiar with contemporary graphic design practice invested in innovative, student-centered pedagogy
- focused on the education of designers and artists within a liberal arts curriculum and value student mentoring
- committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching and interested in art and design as a means for social change
- able to communicate design concepts and rationale to a non-specialist audience and strive to create welcoming community in which all individuals are respected and included, and willing to engage in dialogue and foster student work around issues of difference.
Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, creative works portfolio, unofficial transcripts, teaching statement and portfolio, including examples of inclusive pedagogy, and a list of at least three professional references with contact information.
