Quarantine and Isolation Resources

Have you been directed to quarantine or isolate? The information below will help.

You have had direct exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Asymptomatic Quarantine:
If you are required to quarantine but are asymptomatic, you will remain in quarantine for a minimum of seven days. If you test negative after seven days, you may leave quarantine. If you choose not to be tested, you must remain in quarantine for an additional three days – 10 days total.

Symptomatic Quarantine:
If you are required to quarantine and are experiencing symptoms, you will remain in quarantine for 14 days.

If at any time while in quarantine you test positive, you will be moved to isolation.

If you want to leave quarantine housing before you are released from quarantine by the COVID coordinator, you must alert Residence Life (641.784.5107) and let them know of your planned departure. Note that you may NOT enter the residence halls or other campus buildings and may only return with the approval of the COVID coordinator.

In Your Quarantine Room

  • You are allowed to be in your own room without your mask.
  • No one else is allowed in your room.
  • Follow the basic rules and guidelines of the residence halls.

Outside Your Quarantine Room

  • You must wear a mask when you leave your room.
  • Visitors are NOT allowed.
  • DO NOT leave toiletry items in the bathroom – take them with you.
  • Keep shared spaces clean.
  • You may share the lounge space with other quarantined students while wearing a mask and maintaining social distance of 6 feet or more.

Outside the Building

  • You may use the outdoor space by your building.
  • You MAY NOT leave the quarantine site or the designated outdoor space until you have been released by the COVID coordinator or unless it has been cleared with the Student Life office.

Food

  • Food will be delivered to your building during regular mealtimes.
  • If you are quarantined in the apartments and would like to sign up for meal delivery, contact Morgan Diaz (mjbradfo@graceland.edu).

Laundry

  • Laundry can be coordinated by calling the Student Life office (641.784.5104).

Academics

  • You will be required to attend classes virtually.
  • Faculty will be notified of your status.

Leaving Directed Isolation

  • When your quarantine is complete and with approval of the COVID coordinator, you may return to regular activity at 9 a.m. the following day. At that time, you will be required to return to in-person classes.
  • When leaving your quarantine room, take all your items, place sheets and towels on the bed, place trash outside the door and leave the room key on the desk.
  • Email the Residence Life office (residencelife@graceland.edu) to inform them that your directed quarantine has ended.

Failure to follow these expectations will result in disciplinary action. It is your responsibility to contact the COVID Coordinator for any questions regarding these expectations.
