Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Donovan Nelson, EdD, is program coordinator and assistant professor of sport management in the C.H. Sandage School of Business and the Division of Health and Movement Science.
Dr. Nelson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Graceland University in 1998 and Master of Education degree through Wichita State University in 2003. In 2017, he went on to achieve a doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Nelson returned to Graceland in 2018 with a slew of professional experiences gained in his field, an expanded professional network and valuable contacts that will benefit the sport management students at the university.
Prior to returning to Graceland, Dr. Nelson taught at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, and prior to that, in public education in Missouri and Arkansas, intercollegiate athletics in Kansas, professional baseball and intercollegiate campus recreation in Kansas, and the private for-profit sport sector in Oklahoma. In each of these areas, he has found that creating a positive relationship with his students and colleagues was the most critical component to success.

Dr. Nelson has been married for 21 years to Glynis. They have four children: Brighton, Rigley, Adleigh and Ephram.
