Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Donovan Nelson, EdD, is program coordinator and assistant professor of Sport Management in the C.H. Sandage School of Business and the Division of Health and Movement Science.
Dr. Nelson received a bachelor of arts degree from Graceland University in 1998 and master of education degree through Wichita State University in 2003. In 2017, he went on to achieve a doctorate in education from the University of Arkansas.
After twenty years, Dr. Nelson has returned to Graceland with a slew of professional experience gained in his field, an expanded professional network and valuable contacts that will only benefit the sport management students at the university.
For the past 11 years, Dr. Nelson has taught at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, and prior to that, in public education in Missouri and Arkansas, intercollegiate athletics in Kansas, intercollegiate campus recreation in Kansas and the private for-profit sport sector in Oklahoma. In each of these areas, he has found that creating a positive relationship with his students and colleagues was the most critical component to success.

Dr. Nelson has been married for 19 years to Glynis. They have four children: Brighton, Rigley, Adleigh and Ephram.
