Shelly Schaefer, MSN, RN
Assistant Professor of Nursing - School of Nursing
Shelly Schaefer, MSN, RN, is Assistant Professor of Nursing for Graceland University's School of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saint Mary in 2013 and a Master of Science in Nursing - Nursing Education from Kaplan University in 2017.
As an agency nurse for four years, Shelly traveled to multiple area hospitals working in Telemetry, PCU, Med/Surg and Ortho/Neuro units. When she is not teaching Graceland nursing students, Shelly is working at Crittenton Children's Hospital.
There are a couple reasons Shelly has a such passion for teaching nursing students; she has found a captive audience to listen to her nursing stories, and nurses are her favorite people. She finds teaching future nurses to be the most fulfilling and rewarding career and believes nurses are healthcare's unsung heroes. Why? Because nurses provide care and comfort to their patients up to the last minute of their 12-hour shifts, are fearless when advocating for their patients and will laugh, cry and hug their patients if it helps them feel better.
