Founded in 1895, and sponsored by Community of Christ, Graceland University is more than just a school. Locations:

Lamoni Campus: the main, residential campus is located in Lamoni, Iowa about an hour south of Des Moines. It is a beautiful, welcoming campus that spans 170 acres in the rolling hills of southern Iowa. Our sports complex boasts a new artificial, field-turf football field, a top-rated outdoor track facility and a best-in-the-conference soccer complex. The Helene Center for the Visual Arts is the envy of other schools, and the 2009 Resch Science and Technology Hall offers superb facilities and industry-standard equipment. Forty-eight stunning new student apartments opened in the fall of 2011. Our regional performing arts hub, the Shaw Center, has been renovated and expanded to feature a 625-seat auditorium, a 100-seat recital hall, a 220-seat black box theatre, a beautiful new lobby and atrium and a stunning outdoor amphitheater.

Independence Campus: Our Independence Campus (IC) is located in Independence, Missouri and is home to Graceland’s School of Nursing and Community of Christ Seminary. Graceland’s online programs are operated on the IC, which was opened in 1999. The student-friendly, 55,000-square-foot facility is equipped with cutting-edge learning tools and resources including a comprehensive wireless network, nursing skills lab fitted with cameras to record and play back demonstrations and an award winning nursing library. The IC also offers teacher education and business programs.

Partnership Programs: Graceland partners with area community colleges, including Indian Hills Community College (Centerville, Iowa), North Central Missouri College (Trenton, Missouri), Metropolitan Community College (Independence, Missouri), Kirkwood Community College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Southwestern Community College (Creston, Iowa).

Online Programs: Graceland has been a pioneer in distance learning with decades of experience providing exceptional education in the comfort of students’ homes. In 2000, Graceland moved to a pure online delivery method. We now offer a Master of Education program with five degree options, a Master of Science in Nursing, an RN to BSN program, an RN to MSN ‘bridge’ program and a Bachelor of Art in Health Care Management. Beginning in the fall of 2011, Graceland began offering our first doctoral program, Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Graceland University is a member of the North Central Association (NCA) and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Graceland University's teacher education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).



The baccalaureate degree in nursing, master’s degree in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice at Graceland University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/ccne-accreditation).
