The Graceland University Department of Art sponsors and
coordinates 3 gallery spaces on campus.
The Constance Gallery
The Constance Gallery in The Helene Center for the Visual Arts exhibits works by regionally and nationally recognized artists. Each year boasts an active gallery season of works by five to six artists working in a variety of media. This gallery is viewed as an education tool and an extension of the classroom. When possible, artists are invited to present artist talks and workshops and conduct critiques with advanced students. If you are interested in submitting a proposal for exhibition consideration, please send the following information: updated resume, artist’s statement and 20 images of work to be submitted along with a written exhibition proposal and available dates. Please mail by March 1 to Julia Franklin, Division of Fine Arts, Graceland University, 1 University Place, Lamoni, Iowa 50140. Please note that exhibitions are selected in May for the upcoming academic year and official invitations and contracts are mailed at that time. The Constance Gallery pays for all publicity and receptions and provides a small stipend for the artist to cover exhibition costs and shipping.
The Helene Center Student Gallery & The Shaw Center Gallery
The Helene Center Student Gallery & The Shaw Center Gallery feature works by Graceland University students. Students have the opportunity to propose solo or group shows when the calendar permits. At the end of each semester, graduating art majors mount senior exhibitions that focus on their preferred medium and personal expression.
