Health

The Division of Health and Movement Science includes majors that relate to the health and well being of individuals within the context of social development. All the division majors are grounded in the liberal arts and incorporate theory with extensive internships, fieldwork and practical applications related to their specific disciplines. Graduates have entered careers in parks management, physical fitness training, coaching and teaching. Students may pursue graduate study in areas such as administration, education, physical therapy, counseling or social work.

The Health major is based on the assumption that all factors dealing with human endeavor and well being are interdependent. It is built around a core of courses in biology, health, physical education and psychology. The program provides a well rounded background in health related areas. In a society that is becoming more concerned with health practices, this major has many new career options available in education, business, government and community health programs.
