Graceland makes the application process easy as 123. Below you will see the application checklist for each of the program types. Follow this comprehensive list to prepare your application packet and before you know it you'll be off to a brighter future.

Checklist for M Ed
All Applicants – Your completed packet must include:
  1. Completed application form.
  2. Application Fee: A $50 application fee must accompany your application. Checks should be made payable to Graceland University. This application fee is non-refundable unless requested within three business days of Graceland receiving the fee.
  3. Official transcript in a sealed envelope demonstrating a baccalaureate degree with endorsement in education from an accredited university. Any opened envelopes containing transcripts will not be accepted.
  4. Verification of current teaching position.
  5. Copy of current teaching license.
  6. Letters of reference from two qualified educators addressing your personal qualifications and potential for success in this program. All letters of reference must be signed.
  7. A one-page statement of professional goals and how having a master's degree will help you realize those goals.
For International Students Only:
  1. Complete numbers 1 – 7 above.
  2. Prior to consideration for admission, students who received their undergraduate degree from a country other than the United States or Canada must submit an evaluation report by Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). http://www.ece.org.
  3. Contact 866.893.6882 for further instructions on additional documentation needed.
Checklist for MSN
In addition to your completed packet as described below, all nursing students must arrange for a background check – see the link at left.

All applicants – your completed packet must include:
  1. Completed application form.
  2. Application Fee: A $50 application fee must accompany your application. Checks should be made payable to Graceland University. Payment can be made by credit card over the phone by calling your admissions officer. This application fee is non-refundable unless requested within three business days of Graceland receiving the fee.
  3. Develop a three to four page typed double-spaced autobiographical sketch that will address the following three categories: goals and purpose for seeking admission to the MSN program, personal activities and accomplishments and your most significant professional roles and responsibilities.
  4. Critically analyze a global health issue and present your proposed solution. In addition, explore the pros and cons of your proposal. This submission should be limited to four typed double-spaced pages not including the title and reference pages.
  5. Official transcript in a sealed envelope from each college or school of nursing attended.
  6. Notarized copy of current RN licensure in the United States.
  7. Three letters of reference in sealed envelopes from individuals who can evaluate your potential for success in a graduate nursing program. Note: A nursing instructor reference is required for applicants who have taken courses within the past five years. For those applicants who have not been enrolled in nursing courses within the past five years, a reference form from a current/previous supervisor will be accepted. One of the references must be from a colleague who has known you for at least two years.
  8. Transfer credit petition, requesting a maximum of 10 credits, if applicable).
  9. The Joint Commission institutes regulations in order for hospitals, home health agencies, clinics, etc., to gain or maintain accreditation status. One of these regulations requires that "all persons who are involved in patient care activities, i.e., employees, volunteers and students must have criminal background checks as well as other health care related checks." Criminal background checks must be initiated by the student and completed as part of the application process prior to being accepted into our programs. Validity Screening Solutions will charge $51 for this service (plus $1 if paid by credit card) and must be paid by the student in order for the process to begin. PLEASE NOTE: Complete applications – Please return all materials together in an envelope. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Exceptions may be arranged with an admissions officer at 866.893.6965. For International Students Only:
  1. Complete numbers 1 – 9 above, if applicable.
  2. Prior to consideration for admission, students who received their undergraduate degree from a country other than the United States or Canada must submit a CGFNS evaluation with TOEFL score of 550 or higher and GPA equivalency. For further information or assistance you may contact CGFNS at www.cgfns.org.
  3. Contact 866.893.6965 for further instructions on additional documentation needed.
Checklist for RN to BSN and RN to MSN and BAHCA
In addition to your completed packet as described below, all nursing students must arrange for a background check – see the link at left.

All Applicants – Your completed packet must include:
  1. Completed application form.
  2. Application Fee: A $50 application fee must accompany your application. Checks should be made payable to Graceland University. Payment can be made by credit card over the phone by calling your admissions officer.   3. Professional vita or résumé.
  4. Official transcript in a sealed envelope from each college or school of nursing which you attended. The University is also required to collect an official high school transcript or GED unless you have an associate's or bachelor's degree.
  5. Notarized copy of current RN licensure in the United States.
  6. Letters of reference from two qualified individuals, one from an educator and one from a nursing supervisor or employer. If a previous instructor is not available both forms may be completed by supervisors/employers.
  7. The Joint Commission institutes regulations in order for hospitals, home health agencies, clinics, etc., to gain or maintain accreditation status.   8. RN–MSN applicants
    Those nurses enrolling in the RN to MSN program will complete two application processes: one to the undergraduate program and one, at a later time, to the graduate program. Student support counselors will be available to assist you in the second application process.
