Sustainability at Graceland

At Graceland, sustainability isn’t just something you do, it’s something you live.

Students who are interested in sustainability have a multitude of opportunities to live, study, and work in areas that focus on sustainability. From our major in sustainability studies to working in our hoop house, Graceland gives students the tools and education to have a positive impact on the world.

Get Involved

The Sustainability Program is interested in connecting with students who have an aptitude for all things green. If you like spending time outdoors, have ideas about how to make your surroundings more beautiful, or would simply like to explore ways in which we can encourage local action, please contact the Sustainability Office:

Recycling at Graceland

Recycle bins can be found in every campus building on both of our campuses.

Residence hall lounges (Lamoni campus): paper recycling is done in the main lounge of Graybill, Tess Morgan and Walker halls. These containers have slots at the top and can best be described as large trashcans with wheels. Each lounge also has a blue, octagonal-shaped recycle bin for cans and plastic bottles. Cans and bottles must be emptied and rinsed prior to being added to the bin.

Other campus buildings: there are several places to recycle paper, plastic bottles and cans across campus. Look for blue bins.

Graceland also recycles aluminum cans, #1 and #2 plastics, all types of paper, cardboard, and ink cartridges.
