Greg Vojcsik, House President

June 2006

Welcome to Stewart Manor!

My name is Greg Vojcsik, and I will be your House President for the 2006-2007 school year. I am happy that you chose Graceland, and even more excited that you were placed on Stewart Manor. I cannot wait to get the year started and have the opportunity to get to know you, and the entire freshman class better.

A little about myself. I will be a junior this year majoring in Health and looking to minor in Psychology. I am from New Freedom, Pennsylvania, and I have loved many different opportunities that Graceland has presented to me. I played three sports in high school, and even played football for a year at Graceland. I really enjoy spending time with the Steward Manor men, playing pick up games of any sport, and playing for our intramural teams. I also love just hanging out watching movies and playing some video games with whoever wants to, and I look forward to spending time with you.

Our house is located on the fourth floor (top floor) of Graybill Hall. It is a great group of guys that are easy to get along with and supportive of each other. We are represented by the colors crimson and green, and we are known as the Stewart Manor Scotsmen. Many of our activities throughout the year will focus on the Scotsmen theme. We have been known to wear our "makeshift kilts" around campus and even to school functions. Also come prepared to participate in the Stewart Manor Highland Games where we will compete against each other in varieties of Scottish games many of which involve throwing random objects as far as possible.

As House President I will work as hard as possible to make sure you feel comfortable and have fun while enjoying your freshman year. Not only will you be doing events with your fellow "Scotsmen," but this fall we are fortunate enough to have two sister houses. We will be participating in numerous events with Hanthorne and Leilani. So, not only will you immediately have around 40 brothers, but you will also get to know 50-60 of our sisters upon arrival. We have many functions that encourage bringing dates, including camping, ice skating, dinner in Kansas City, Royals games and our Scotland Fest featuring a big cookout.

You will meet other members in leadership roles who also have say in the functions and events that will be going on. Currently our house council consists of these members:

We currently have two openings to the council. Our COSA rep and Senator are open, and could possibly be filled by an incoming freshman like you. COSA is the guy that will inform us about student activities around campus, and the senator will represent our house in making changes around the campus.

I am sorry that I cannot answer all of your questions in just one letter. If you would like to ask me anything, or just talk to me, you can email me or call me. This summer I will be helping to run camps for underprivileged kids in Chattanooga, Tennessee at "The Center," the Community of Christ's inner city missionary center. It could be difficult to get a hold of me, but I will try to check my email as much as possible. If you will be attending Graceland Spectacular this summer, I should be there, and would love to meet you.

Take care, and see you in the fall

Greg Vojcsik
