Experience as a School Improvement Consultant ( 2000-present):

  • Provide school improvement services to a number of school districts in Grant Wood Area Education Agency area (seven counties in eastern Iowa)
  • Provide leadership and support for continuous improvement processes in school districts and buildings including needs assessment, data collection and analysis, school/community planning, professional development planning and implementation and program evaluation

Experience as a Graduate Instructor (1987 - present):

Soon after becoming an Educational Consultant at Grant Wood AEA I began teaching graduate level courses. I've taught graduate courses for Drake University, Graceland University, Marycrest International University, Morningside College and Viterbo University.  Courses I have taught include Supervision of Instruction, Human Growth and Development, Multiple Intelligences, Brain Compatible Learning, Classroom Management, Differentiated Instruction, The Iowa Teaching Standards and others. For the past three years I have been Cohort Facilitator for the masters degree in Collaborative Teaching and Learning from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

 

Experience as a School Principal (1980 - 1986):

Secondary principal in four rural districts in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.  Other duties included teaching two English classes in Wisconsin, athletic director in Iowa, and guidance counselor in Minnesota.  Received extensive experience in areas such as supervision, staff development and curriculum and instruction. While serving at Grant Wood AEA I was interim principal at Hoover Elementary School (1994-1995).

 

Experience as a High School Teacher (1976-1980):

Language arts teacher, North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa.  Coached both athletic and fine arts activities and ran varsity concessions.  Excelled in teaching at-risk students.
