Conceptual Framework

The Graceland University Gleazer School of Education is committed to preparing and supporting effective teachers who care, reflect, lead, and collaborate. Graduates demonstrate these dispositions and abilities in relation to their knowledge of diversity, active learning strategies, and technology as the teacher innovatively works with learners and communitites.

Education students, both undergraduate and graduate, should be able to demonstrate that they care about all students, effectively reflect on practice, innovatively lead, and collaborate with learners and communities.  Education candidates are expected to display dispositions that align with the conceptual framework and to demonstrate the ability to relate to diverse learners, create active learning lessons, and utilize technology to promote student learning.

Cares
Candidates seek to establish a relationship of unconditional acceptance and respect for learners.

Reflects
Candidates analyze, debrief, and abstract from their experiences, articulating what they have felt, thought, and learned through instructing learners.

Leads
Candidates prepare to lead instruction and assume leadership roles to advance their profession.

Collaborates
Candidates develop high levels of involvement with learners, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the community.
