Admissions Requirements
BSN-RN Traditional Program Admission requirements:
Admission to the BSN program is extremely competitive; applicants should meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:
- Admission to Graceland University's School of Nursing
- Two letters of reference and an informational essay
- Successful completion of the HESI pre-entrance exam, (exam schedule listed on website)
- A cumulative grade point average(GPA) of 2.5 in all previous college work
- A minimum 2.0 (GPA) in all courses required for the major
- Regular program - 66 semester hours completed (including required support courses).
- Accelerated Option Program - 69 semester hours completed (including required support courses).
Other considerations include: personal qualifications, potential for professional competency, and a required background check. See specific requirements below.
Pre-Requisite Requirements - no prior degree
Transfer students applying to the School of Nursing must successfully complete the minimum 66 semester hour requirement before summer admittance into the program. The 66 semester hours must be comprised of 8 semester hours minimum in each of the following areas: (* indicates a pre-requisite course) Applicant must complete each pre-requisite course with a letter grade of C, or preferably higher.
- Communications: English 101, English 102, Speech
- The Humanities: Literature, Philosophy, Foreign Language, Music, Art, Theatre
- The Social Sciences: *Intro to Psychology, *Intro to Sociology or Intro to Cultural Anthropology, *Developmental Psych (Lifespan)
- Math & Science: *College Math or College Algebra(Algebra preferred), *Intro to Statistics, *Chemistry(Organic, Inorganic and Biochem), *Anatomy and *Physiology taken separately or (can be A&P together), *Microbiology, *Nutrition
Courses in bold above are used to calculate a Science Grade Point Average
Pre-Requisite Requirements - with prior degree
Transfer students applying to the School of Nursing who already possess a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university must successfully complete the required pre-requisite courses listed below before summer admittance into the program. Applicant must complete each pre-requisite course with a letter grade of C, or preferably higher.
- Intro to Psychology
- Intro to Sociology or Intro to Cultural Anthropology
- Intro to Statistics
- Developmental Psych (Lifespan)
- Chemistry(to include components of Organic, Inorganic and Biochem)
- Anatomy (can be taken as A&P)
- Physiology(can be taken as A&P)
- Microbiology
- Nutrition
