Mentorship Program GU4U Introduced at Fall Burn 2015

Mentors can be extremely helpful to college students. In order to help Graceland students gain the most from their education, Enactus has collaborated with the Graceland Alumni Board to offer GU4U, a mentorship program that will pair current students and recent graduates with alumni and friends in their field of study.

Second Graceland University Town Hall Meeting to Address Privilege

Graceland University has announced that “Privilege” will be the topic for the second Graceland “Town Hall Meeting,” to be held Dec. 3 on the Lamoni campus. “Town Hall Meetings have the potential to be a high-impact practice,” said Tammy Everett, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. Everett continued, “At Graceland, we are working to engage students in this process every semester.”

Such an opportunity can offer both personal and professional growth and can help students develop skills and gain experiences not available in a classroom. Graceland courses in England will take place May 2 through 23, 2016, and offer a variety of course topics to choose from.

Graceland University Welcomes So Percussion

Drums, cymbals, tin cans, xylophones and other things that go bump in the night are coming to Graceland. So Percussion will perform in the Shaw Family Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Nov. 4. There are no advance ticket sales or reserved seats. The box office opens at 6:45 p.m.

Graceland University Announces First Environmental Symposium

This symposium will showcase environmental professionals and researchers from a variety of backgrounds, all of whom will speak on this year’s symposium theme, “Changing Paradigms.” The conference will focus on environmental issues, from wind and solar energy to food waste. “Come and join other blue, gold and ‘green’ alumni interested in supporting Graceland environmental studies and sustainability projects!”

Graceland University Mourns the Passing of Tom Nowlin

Nowlin coached five sports in more than 41 years while working at Graceland University. He was the first wrestling coach at Graceland and was the head coach of baseball, tennis and track while serving as an assistant football coach throughout his tenure with the Yellowjackets.

Graceland University AmeriCorps Youth Launch Program Receives Funding for its Eighth Year

Shannon Harris, Director of Graceland’s AmeriCorps Youth Launch program, received word that the program has been awarded $522,000 to continue activities for the next three years. The federal funding for the program is matched by an approximately equal amount from the Dekko Foundation and an additional $67,000 in staff and services by Graceland University.

Graceland University TRiO Grant Funded for Another Five Years

Graceland University is excited to continue the strong 37-year history Graceland has built with the SSS program. The new grant cycle will provide 1.5 million dollars over the next five years to provide program services to increase the retention and graduation rates of the 180 first-generation, low-income Graceland students served by the program.

Graceland University to Sponsor Free Red Cross Training
