Faren Charles Persall Gazebo

Faren Charles Persall Gazebo

There is a new addition to the northeast of campus. The dedication of the Faren Charles Persall Gazebo, as part of the Persall Family Orchard, will take place at 4 p.m. on the Friday of Homecoming 2015. Graceland University Outreach International (OI) students were the driving force behind the project.

The idea was presented to the Graceland Senate and, with their help, funding for the orchard began a few years ago. As the project developed, Graceland student and senator Mikayla Conway suggested the gazebo be named for the late Charles Persall, and the Persall and Everett families provided the additional funding needed. Thanks to the work and ideas of Graceland students Karl Bradford, Melisssa Sherer and Mikayla Conway, along with GU Sustainability Coordinator, Jen Abraham-White, and OI club sponsor and business professor, Max Pitt, this addition to campus honoring Persall has become a reality and offers a beautiful retreat for students and visitors, alike.
