Entrepreneurial Entrepreneurial Roundtable Set for April 10. Andy Simpson, director of the Sandage Center for the Study of Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, wants to remind you about Graceland's Annual Entrepreneurial Roundtable which is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, on the Lamoni campus. It is one of The Sandage Center's major events of the year. Johnny Huntsman, a 1962 Graceland graduate who built up a pizza restaurant empire in Louisiana, will be keynote speaker. Johnny and his wife, Sharon, funded the new artificial field-turf last summer for Graceland's football field. Sign up today to attend the Roundtable. Click on the link above or email Andy at andy.simpson@graceland.edu for details.

Graceland Graceland Forever Campaign-Close Celebrations Held. Festive celebrations were held February 15 on our Independence campus and February 22 on our Lamoni campus to mark the close of the historic Graceland Forever Capital Campaign. More than $60 million was raised during the eight years of the two-phase campaign, and our students will benefit for generations because of the generosity of loyal Gracelanders. To read stories about and view photo galleries from the two events, click on Graceland Forever Celebrations. Pictured here with the $60 million check are, from left, Ken McClain, President John Sellars, Kelly Everett, Sherri Kirkpatrick, and Dennis Piepergerdes.

2007 Don't Forget Fine Arts Christmas Card Design Contest. Graceland alumni and friends should pick up their art supplies, capture their creative visions, and submit designs to the 2008 Christmas Card Design Contest. There will be two categories for judging: Graceland themes and Christmas designs. You can enter both categories; there is no limit to the number of entries and all ages and mediums are welcome. Assistant Professor of Art Zane Vredenburg is having his Design 2 students submit entries, so the competition should be especially interesting this year. Winners will be announced in the fall issue of Horizons. Winning designs will be reproduced on Christmas cards and sold at Homecoming 2008. Proceeds will support fine art scholarships and art camps. Scanned submissions (at 300 dpi or higher) may be emailed to Randy Meline, Horizons Editor: meline@graceland.edu before the July 8 deadline. Graceland First Lady Bette Sellars will be one of the judges this year!

HarrisHarris Connect is Contacting You about New Alumni Directory.  Don't think you have been 'spammed' or 'phished' if you receive an email from Harris Connect, Inc., the firm partnering with Graceland to create a new Alumni and Friends directory. The email will ask for verification of your alumni information and it will be signed by Alumni Programs Director Nancy Wallace. You may also be contacted by hardcopy mail or a telephone call. Please take a minute to provide your information so we can have the most complete directory possible. If you have questions, contact the Alumni Programs office by emailing heltnbrg@graceland.edu.

hspace=12 Still Time to Attend "The Yellowjacket" Golf Outing. You still have time to sign up for "The Yellowjacket" golf outing set for May 1-4 at the Rancho de los Caballeros Resort in Wickenburg, AZ. The fourth annual event is sponsored by Graceland's Yellowjacket Club, the alumni and friends fundraising group that supports our athletic teams. Proceeds from previous years have funded refurbishing of both the men's and women's basketball locker rooms and the soccer locker rooms. Director of Development Todd Sturgis says great fellowship and fun are big parts of why "The Yellowjacket" is growing in popularity each year. And, participation helps our teams! Email Todd at tsturgis@graceland.edu to sign up. Click on the Yellowjacket Club to learn more about this great group of Gracelanders.

Donor Spotlight Shines on Bob and Peggy Harder. Joining Graceland's Heritage Club is an excellent way for your family to leave a legacy gift to the University. Some of you may have already arranged to leave such a gift but not yet shared the news with Graceland. In this month's Donor Spotlight we salute Bob and Peggy Harder of Annapolis, MD. Bob graduated from Graceland in 1958, and enjoyed a long and distinguished career teaching. He and Peggy made a provision for a gift to Graceland in their 'living trust' several years ago, but it was not until GU Development Officer Paul Davis met with them recently that we learned the good news. Now the Harders are on the fast track for perks that come with Heritage Club membership. A framed photo of the Higdon Administration Building is on the way and we are set to install a name plate on the Heritage Club wall in the Harpham Heritage Chapel. And, attending all Homecoming events will be free for the Harders from now on. Thanks Bob and Peggy, for letting Graceland know about this wonderful news.
