No Post Holiday Blues here!
Hello out there in TV land. You will be happy to know that Graceland University hasn't skipped a beat this month even though some pretty dismal weather tried its best to get our spirits low. NOT A CHANCE!!!!, especially for the lucky students who chose to travel abroad for their Winter Term experience. Graceland students made treks to Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Tahiti and Ireland. And several worked hard on internships in Ireland, Australia, Germany and England.

On the Lamoni campus, what a party! Longtime music Professor Oliver Houston is retiring after 48 years on The Hill - the longest tenure in Graceland University history. "Ollie" has decided to spend his days handling his wife's laborious "honey do list". Houston graduated from Graceland in 1947 and his many roles here included Registrar, Dean of Admissions, Summer School Program Director, Director of Institutional Research, and Dean of Faculty. Most students will remember his dedication and skill teaching organ and music theory. You can send along any words of wisdom or thanks to Houston@graceland.edu . Enjoy retirement Ollie because you sure earned it!

Next month will be very special for Graceland's Center for the Study of the Korean War. The 6th annual Conference on War and Media happens February 24-26. Ms. Helie Lee will be the keynote speaker on Friday night the 25th. Lee is the author of In the Absence of Sun, an account of her Korean-American family's attempt to rescue an uncle from North Korea. The Lee family was featured on ABC's Nightline with Ted Kopel and the Oprah Winfrey Show. Please call Gregg Edwards at 816-833-0524, ext. 4303 or fire up the computer using gedwards@graceland.edu for the whole scoop.

First there was "SPEC", now Graceland has been awarded a Fine Arts Division grant and will host a week long summer camp to explore art, music and theatre for kids in grades one through nine. The Helene and Shaw Centers will be perfect venues.

A belated Happy New Year to you and yours!

May all of your dreams come true in 2005 and if you should happen to win the lottery we expect to hear from you here in the Development Office. We are three full months into the public phase of the Graceland Forever Capital Campaign.

Regards and GOOOOO YELLOWJACKETS!
