Making a Bequest to Graceland

Bequests, both large and small, have been important to Graceland University since its founding. They continue to account for a major portion of the university's endowment and provide significant funding for Graceland's programs, facilities and student aid. Bequests are made through a written and executed will.

Your legacy

You need a will to direct how your property will be used and distributed after your lifetime. For Graceland alumni, parents and friends, the bequest is an easy and convenient way to develop the substantial future support for a program or department that is important to you. A gift to Graceland through your will provides several advantages:

  • Charitable gifts made through your will are deductible for estate tax purposes.
  • A charitable bequest may place your estate in a lower tax bracket.
  • You may direct your bequest to a specific department, program or the University as a whole.
  • If you wish to establish a $10,000 endowed scholarship or endowment fund through your will, you can request that it be named for you or anyone you wish to honor.  You may wish to support an existing scholarship or the University endowment.
  • When you notify Graceland of your bequest intention, you will be invited to join the Heritage Club.
