Graceland Forever Capital Campaign a resounding success!
A message from the President
Eight years ago our Board of Trustees fixed the university's course on the most ambitious capital campaign in our history. It was dubbed Graceland Forever. As 2007 drew to an end, the board voted to close out the campaign - nearly two years early - and deem it a resounding success. The ambitious goal of raising $52 million during the two phases of the campaign, once a lofty aspiration, became a $60.9 million, 2008 New Year's reality.
Nearly 11,500 individuals participated in the campaign. Every area of the university continues to benefit, with faculty support and scholarship endowments, and major capital improvements. The landscape and fabric of our campuses were blessed by donors of all ages, from around the world, who answered the Graceland Forever call to support the university they love.
An army of Gracelanders volunteered their time, energy and expertise to serve on a number of Graceland Forever committees and advisory groups. Many alumni hosted campaign events in their homes. These loyal Graceland friends provided the significant manpower needs and drove the perpetual engine of the campaign. The university owes them a huge vote of thanks. Graceland Forever's success would not have been possible without them.
The campaign revitalized our strenghts and heightened our dreams. Graceland is fiscally strong, culturally diverse, academically dynamic, spiritually inspiring and, perhaps most of all, deeply connected and enriched by a history steeped in tradition and pride. We have so much to celebrate.
Accept my sincere thanks, all of you who participated in Graceland Forever. Thanks to those who shared their resources and thanks to those who shared their time. Graceland is an incredibly exciting place to be these days. It makes you so proud to hear our students speak of the unique experiences. There is a passion that comes with being a Graceland student, and goes with becoming a Graceland graduate.
