Charles Schmidt

A native of St. Louis, Dr. Schmidt received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he studied with Joanne Baker, and his doctorate from Michigan State University, studying with Ralph Votapek. He has given recitals and masterclasses throughout the U.S. and has also worked extensively in the fields of musical theatre and opera, both as an accompanist and musical director on works that include: The Barber of Seville, The Consul, Suor Angelica and The Telephone. Dr. Schmidt is on faculty at Graceland University, where he teaches piano, piano literature, piano pedagogy, and serves as an accompanist. He currently resides in Lamoni, Iowa with his wife and two sons
