Sections Usually Required in a Proposal
Each agency generally publishes guidelines that reflect how a project can meet the criteria of the funding agency. However, most proposals will contain all or part of the suggestions listed below.
A Proposal to a Foundation or Corporation Will Usually Contain These Elements:
- Cover letter signed by the president
- Proof of 501©3status
- Proposal (include items listed in Proposal Package below)
Additional materials (resumes, vitae, letters of support and other material critical to a specific proposal)
- Letter of commitment signed by the president
- Proposal (include items listed in Proposal Package below or follow agency specific guideliines)
- Certifications and Assurances
Additional materials (resumes, vitae, letters of support and other material critical to a specific proposal)
- Proposal Abstract
- Introduction
- Need for the Program (assess current situation to show a need exists)
- Program Goals and Objectives (how the need will be met)
- Plan of Operation (how goals and objectives will be accomplished)
- Quality of Personnel (who is responsible for what )
- Evaluation (must have quantitative and qualitative data and show formative and summative timelines)
- Budget and Budget Narrative
- Appendices
