Graceland students, faculty, staff and patrons from the local community are eligible to borrow items through interlibrary loan.
Making Interlibrary Loan Requests
Books, periodical articles and some microform items can usually be borrowed without charge. If the lending library indicates a charge you will be notified before the order is completed. Please send interlibrary loan requests via email to Twila Rider (trider@graceland.edu). Making Interlibrary Loan Requests from Databases Databases which are provided through OCLC's FirstSearch service (WorldCat, ArticleFirst) allow you to make interlibrary loan requests directly from within the databases. When you pull up a record you will see a button marked "ILL". Clicking on this button brings up a form asking for your contact information. Click on "Send" to generate a request. In EBSCOhost databases (e.g. Academic Search Premier, MasterFile, PsycINFO, ERIC, CINAHL), articles that are not available in full text format, or through the Graceland Libraries, can be ordered by clicking on the "Request this item through interlibrary loan" link. Please make sure this article isn't available full-text in another database such as OVID before ordering. Receiving Items Loan requests can take from a few days to over a week to arrive, depending on availability, the speed at which the lending library responds and how the item is shipped. In some cases articles can be faxed to us or sent via the Internet and can arrive within one or two days. We email articles to you as a PDF file. Loan Periods, Renewals and Fines The loan period for books and other items is determined by the lending library. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the lending library. If a renewal is desired, the interlibrary loan staff must be notified a few days in advance so they can submit the request to the lending library. It is important to return items promptly; overdues can jeopardize Graceland library's ability to borrow from other libraries. There is a 25 cent per day fine on overdue interlibrary loan books.
