B. As administrator
While working as a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences of a state-run university in the Philippines from June 1985 to September 1999, was designated with some administrative duties.
  • Three times (3x) designated as Department Chair (a department with 30 faculty and staff members, 300 undergraduate/graduate students, and offering 4 baccalaureate, 2 masters and one doctorate programs).
  • For four years, designated as university’s Director for Research
  • For three years, designated as Graduate Program Coordinator (concurrent position as Department Chair).
C. As Researcher
  • From three post-doc research projects conducted, gained excellent experience and developed great skills in various molecular biology research methodologies including (but not limited to) genomic/plasmid DNA isolation, restriction enzyme digestion, DNA cloning and transformation, electroporation, PCR, primer design, DNA sequence analysis, DNA quantification, PAGE and agarose gel electrophoresis, gel documentation, single-stranded DNA conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis, population genetics/evolutionary data analyses, etc.
  • Other expertise included analyses of population variability using comparative karyotyping/karyomorphology and isozyme/protein electrophoresis.
